Did any of you catch Carly Smithson and Michael Johns on American Idol? Wow! What a performance. I'm glad to see her still going strong. You know, after some of them get booted off the show, they just shrivel up and don't do anything else. I was also glad to see that Carly Smithson has improved her looks. Not that she was ever bad to look at, although the tramp stamps didn't help, but she looks more like a professional Entertainer now rather than a bum off the streets.

Her albums are doing pretty good and I believe she did very well on the American Idol tour. There's a bright road ahead of Carly Smithson and I look forward to seeing more of her in the future.

Carly Smithson has turned into a first class singer. I've heard rumors that she is also writing some songs. I can't wait to hear them. She does have many talents and I'm sure she'll only get better with time!

Carly Smithson advanced in American Idol's competition into the Top 24. Carly Smithson was one of the favorites and easily won the spot in the Top 24 American Idol list.

The next stage for Carly Smithson and other American Idol hopefuls is the weekly competiton rounds leading up to American Idol's Top 12. Unlike previous American Idol competition's, these are voted on by you the viewer, not determined by the judges. No one doubts that Carly Smithson has what it takes to make the American Idol top 12. All that stands in the way is a poor performance or poor song choice, or perhaps even a bad night by the judges.

Carly Smithson certainly has a bank of songs to choose from. She can perform just about any genre of music, but he strong point seems to be classic rock singles, which we love to hear! However, as we've seen in the past, some American Idol hopefuls do a poor job of choosing songs and this could be Carly Smithson's downfall on the American Idol stage.

Carly Smithson will need the smooth yet powerful voice to help advance in the competition, no doubt. And let’s face it. There have been American Idol contestants in the past who’ve made it a long ways in the compeition that wasn’t as talented as Carly Smithson. But we all know that sometimes it’s not the most talented that go on to the final 12 in American Idol competition, sometimes it’s nothing more than a local favorite getting their hometown (or home state or home country…read Sanjiya) to vote for them.

And of course, if someone is as beautiful as Carly, especially if they're female, they get a lot of the male teenager votes. This could be what puts Carly over the top. She is fair skinned and has a pretty face. Obviously she takes care of her skin (except for those ugly tramp stamps) and her body. Rumor has it that she uses whipped body butter to keep her skin healthy and glowing. I even read one of those Hollywood Gossip columns that said she made the top ten list of the sexiest boobs in the world. I would have to agree with that for now, because I haven't seen all the boobs in the World yet, but I'm working on it ;)

Carly Smithson has what it takes to make it to the Top 3 in the American Idol competition, the only question mark at this time is can it be done with a fickle crowd and can the song choices and performances go off without a hitch?

We’ll just have to turn on American Idol and watch American Idol every week to see if Carly Smithson can wow the fans of American Idol.

I wonder what American Idol contestants get for coming up short? Maybe they're like a Little Leage Baseball team and get one of those cool acrylic trophies. I guess in this case, they would be in the shape of the American Idol symbol or a person standing at a microphone? For some of the contestants, that would be way more than they deserve!

However, Simon was not impressed with her this time as he was 2 years ago when she auditioned for american idol in Las Vegas.

Carly Smithson is no stranger to the american idol auditions. Two years ago Carly auditioned at the Las Vegas tryouts. She made it to Hollywood back then but due to a Visa problem, she was disqualied from continuing on with American Idol.

As soon as Carly Smithson was sent to Hollywood by the American Idol judges, controversy began. It seems Carly Smithson has had two previous record deals. One of them with a major record label.

The other thing that is fueling this whole Carly Smithson controversy is that she changed her name from Carly Hennessy to Carly Smithson, her married name. I don't know why this shocks people, after all she is married and has a right to go by her married name, however some see this as being deceptive.

Carly Hennessy, errr Carly Smithson...or whatever you wanted to call her is not in this all alone. American Idol made a big deal about her previous tryout in Las Vegas two years ago, but they never mentioned that she had been signed with a Major record label and cut an album.

In 2000, Carly Smithson was signed to a 6 album recording deal with MCA Records — a major label. In 2001 Carly Smithson said: “Some people just struggle. I was very, very lucky.”

It is reported that Carly Smithson, or at the time Carly Hennessy, received a $100,000 advance for her first album and a $5,000 a month in living expenses while the CD was being cut. She recorded her first CD “Ultimate High”. The Wall Street Journal reported that MCA Records spent a total of $2.2 million on recording, promotion, making a video, and Carly Hennessy's living expenses and a car for her.

Carly Smithson’s CD flopped on the charts. Big Time. Her first single was titled “I’m Gonna Blow Your Mind” and had sexual undertones. It seems no one liked the CD and she ended up selling a whopping 378 copies. It was even rumored that she would be doing a series of workout songs, but I'm not sure if this ever came about. That would be interesting to see Carly working out while singing. She certainly has the body to be a personal trainer.

What we saw on American Idol is her crying on television about this was going to be her "year" and sobbing telling the camera that she was disqualified two years ago and this was her second chance.

Another thing that has American Idol faithful viewers up in the air about is that one of her singles, “Just Missed the Train”, was recorded by American Idol winner Kelly Clarkson on her first CD “Thankful”.

American Idol's going to have a lot of explaining to do about how they didn't know about Carly Smithson all these years?

It really seams that American Idol is doing one of two things with Carly Smithson, either they are setting her up to be the controversial figure this year or setting her up to win. Some viewers think that they have chosen her to win this year and that American Idol is doing nothing other than promoting her....again...

Whatever the outcome for Carly Smithson, you can't disagree that she is very beautiful and talented, although she should have never had the Tramp Stamps put on her right arm. This has already turned a lot of people off to Carly Smithson and American Idol.
